Why We Built Allio
When I was 21 years old, my grandfather took me on a road trip through France and Italy.
That journey changed my life.
It wasn’t because we checked famous landmarks off a list. It was because we truly experienced the places we visited.
We learned to drive a stick shift while winding through the French countryside to visit centuries-old châteaux. In Florence, we became friends with the owners of a neighborhood bar and spent hours talking and laughing long after closing time. We danced with locals in Paris to American pop songs, even though we barely spoke the same language. We stood among the haunting ruins of Pompeii, imagining a civilization frozen in time. We wandered the canals of Venice and felt as though we had stepped into another era.
Those moments taught me that the most meaningful travel experiences aren’t always the ones you can plan from a generic “Top 10 Things to Do” list. They’re the unexpected conversations, the local traditions, the hidden places, and the stories that stay with you long after you return home.
Since that first trip, I’ve traveled to 26 countries and today I share that same passion with my own family. Every trip we take begins the same way: with curiosity, thoughtful planning, and a desire to experience a destination as more than just visitors.
Why Allio Is Different
Over the years, I became the person everyone asked to plan their trips.
I didn’t just book flights or hotels. I spent weeks researching the history, neighborhoods, architecture, food, customs, etiquette, and hidden gems that made each destination unique.
Eight years ago, I began creating personalized travel guides for friends and family because I realized something important.
Travel should never be one size fits all.
Someone who loves architecture shouldn’t spend their vacation following a generic shopping itinerary. A foodie shouldn’t waste time standing in line for an attraction they don’t care about simply because it’s ranked #1 online.
